My work offers a narrative and photographic exploration of love through observations of human interactions, emotions, and social and political events

In With Jonathan, four photos are layered to create a sense of movement and to capture my understanding of the relationship between models and photographers. The exhibition is made of a big print of this photo with four small original pictures elevated by sizes at the side to create an ascending effect with different layers. My observation of humans and their relationship to their body is reflected through my capture of one's movements. No matter who I am photographing, I treasure every interaction with my models, This series of movements have captured the most relaxing state while the model isn’t paying attention to themselves or the fact that they are in a studio. And this relationship between the model and the photographer is built upon love and respect, and the experience of my interaction with the model is what inspires me as a photographer.

The Only Virus Present Is Your Racism presents an idea that anyone can get the Coronavirus, therefore, hatred and hostility towards each other is not the solution for this crisis. I Googled pictures of Asian people wearing facemasks, printed them out black and white, used red markers and squared all the faces, taped these pictures together into a photo collage. Then I printed out some news and images relating to the increasing fear and hatred towards Asian people, pasted them on cardboard to create a “fence” of the photo collage. On the edge of the “news fence”, I stuck small labels with definitions of xenophobia. Later, I took photos of students on campus wearing facemasks with words, "I am not a virus, "and used these photos as another “fence” outside of the “news fence”. For my photos, I captured people of different race, age, family backgrounds wearing face masks, showing no scientific truth to the idea that  "Chinese people are most likely to get Coronavirus." The idea of this work appears within the transition between the earlier iteration, in which everything is colorless, and the later version, as colors start to appear when people show kindness. At last, I wrote "love" and "be kind" on sticky notes and pasted them on the photo collage. In this unexpected situation, learning to care about each other and to be kind is important, as there's often a gain in exploration of love.
